Adebukola Olufotebi, LPC
Accepting New Clients in Maryland & DC (Self-Pay Only)
Adebukola is a compassionate and committed Licensed Professional Counselor based in the District of Columbia, with years of experience offering culturally sensitive support to young adults, adults, and adolescents grappling with various mental health issues, including those specific to their cultural backgrounds.
With a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Towson University and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, she is equipped with a diverse academic background. While her training at JHU specialized in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), she opts for an eclectic approach tailored to her clients' individual needs.
Adebukola has a deep-rooted passion for working with individuals from the African diaspora and other cultural backgrounds. She aims to bridge the gap between acknowledging mental health in the U.S. and abroad. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in relational cultural theory (RCT), which highlights the importance of connection and addresses isolation and relational distress as significant contributors to human suffering. Through this approach, she prioritizes building strong therapeutic alliances, empowering clients to recreate these connections in every aspect of their lives. In addition to CBT and RCT, she incorporates person-centered and trauma-informed interventions into her practice, ensuring holistic and comprehensive support for her clients.
Beyond her role as a therapist, Adebukola serves as a mentor and educator. She currently serves as an Adjunct Professor in the psychology department at Towson University, where she shares her expertise and passion for mental health. When she's not in the therapy room or lecturing at the university, she enjoys traveling to new destinations, providing make-up services, and co-hosting a podcast where she discusses mental health topics, further extending her reach and impact in the field.
